The film is an adaptation of the novel Balraj Sahni's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. It stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The movie was directed by Omung Kumar and written by Amitabh Kakkar.It is scheduled to be released on 25 October 2015 worldwide excluding North America which will release on November 23, 2015. Mukta Arts acquired the rights for the distribution of the film in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand. This film made good business on first day. Its opening day collection was 15 Crore (45 Lakhs) at domestic box office which is quite impressive considering its cast & budget .It has done better business than other films released during same week . The movie collected 19 crores at domestic box office on its first weekend .
